Woolford Day 2005 Photo Album
The second Annual Woolford Day was held at Milton
United Methodist Church
on Saturday, June 25th.
Milton
UMC Church opened its doors
to nearly 150 neighbors and friends from Woolford and nearby. The event celebrated community and family ties. The Church has
been serving the area since 1880. Woolford Day served-up food and fun for all on a bright sunny day.
The highlights included horse rides for young
and old on show-winner Cadet thanks to his owner/trainer Mila Tolley. A clown named J-Bird who sounded like the
owner of J-Birds Café in Church Creek was another hit. The artistic face painting offered rainbows and colored designs but
the American Flag was most often requested.
The moonbounce was most popular with horseshoes,
tug-of-war, and a sack race, plus lawn games adding to the activities. Another highlight was the visit by the Emergency
Medical Services vehicle from the Church Creek Volunteer Fire Company. Emergency Medical Technicians demonstrated the lifesaving
equipment carried in the vehicle and explained their work. The crew also gave familiarization rides.
Reggie
Powley, a talented DJ set the mood with lively country music. The water melon eating race was tightly competed
with three winners. Everyone enjoyed cold drinks and endless servings of hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans and more. There
were some 30 kinds of baked treats from cookies to brownies.
Woolford Day and all refreshments and entertainments were underwritten by Milton UMC, a gift
to its families and friends and a celebration of community, still looking to the Milton Church as the center of Woolford life
for 125 years.
